Annual Chandler Jazz Festival returns to Downtown Chandler April 8–10

After the past year we’ve all experienced, who’s ready to be outdoors to groove to the sounds of soulful jazz? 

Mark your calendar for April 8–10, as the 22nd Annual Chandler Jazz Festival returns to Downtown Chandler just in time to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month this coming April. 

To ensure the health and safety of jazz aficionados and downtown visitors alike, this year’s free musical festival will take place over three days at four open areas for all to continuously walk throughout Chandler’s Historic Square, including: Crust, Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West, Saba’s Western Wear, Sibley’s West as well as the nearby Vision Gallery. 

Attendees can stroll through the Downtown while enjoying lively musical performances during the afternoon or evening hours on April 8–10. Attendees also can bring a blanket or lawn chair, grab a meal from your favorite eatery and dine in the park while taking in the smooth sounds of live jazz performances. 

Performers include: Mike Ozuna Trio, Pete Pancrazi and Todd Johnson, Beth Lederman & Jazz Con Alma, WildeP’lay, Trio Maxo, The Gaines Brothers, Charlie Smith and the Claudia Bloom Trio. 

Jazz festival hours are: 
        ·  5–8 p.m. Thursday, April 8; 
        ·  5–8 p.m. Friday, April 9; 
        ·  3–5 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Saturday, April 10.

If you’re not quite ready to hit the streets of Downtown Chandler and prefer to get your groove on in the comfort of your own home, join us virtually as the Chandler Center for the Arts (CCA) continues its CCA Anywhere Series in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month. 

In fact, the popular CCA series kicks off with a free virtual performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 1, featuring Quarteto Nuevo, a jazz ensemble that pulls its musical inspiration from all over the world. The CCA is proud to present jazz icon David Benoit for a one-time virtual performance, in partnership with the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation. For three decades, the GRAMMY®-nominated pianist/composer/arranger David Benoit has reigned supreme as one the founding fathers of contemporary jazz. This virtual performance will explore all facets of David’s 40-year career in music, including a sneak preview from his brand new album, plus perennial favorites and a special tribute to his jazz piano heroes.

CCA Anywhere: Kandace Springs

Get pulled into the jazz world of Nashville-born artist Kandace Springs. She is known for her smoky voice that sounds like it is channeling Sade and her expressive mastery of the piano. Get ready to be immersed in a swirl of classical composition that sits in a quiet storm of cool jazz, blended with hip-hop swing. And, music with a tropical warmth, soulful depth and earthen groove that will have you closing your eyes and swaying to the music with satisfaction and agreeing to all that she sings.

Online performance with Q&A | Early bird – $15/ After April 4 – $20 
Naturally 7 transforms their voices into actual human instruments, effortlessly producing music of any genre. Their vocal choreography is so perfectly interwoven that they compelled the musical maestro himself, Quincy Jones, to declare them, “The best a cappella group in the world!” Don’t miss a 60-minute virtual performance that gives you front-row attendance, front-row view, wherever you may be.
