Things to do in Downtown Chandler
Category: Features
The safety of our community is a top priority during these ever-changing times and it’s important to follow the guidelines of the CDC to socially distance.
Feel like you’re going a little stir crazy at home though? Here are things you can do in Downtown Chandler while still maintaining safe practices.
Walk, Bike and Run
Fresh air and exercise are a great way to clear the mind and enjoy your surroundings. The Downtown Chandler SRP canal offers a beautiful path through our hipstoric downtown, perfect for walking and running. Along the canal are murals dedicated to our rich history.
If biking is more your style, Arizona Ave spans the downtown with offshoots down Boston St, Buffalo St, Chicago St, and Frye Rd that lead to your favorite bars, restaurants and live entertainment venues.
Picnic in the Park
Whether you walked, drove or rode your bike to get here, stroll over to Dr. A.J Chandler Park West or East to enjoy a picnic. Bring food from home or take advantage of to-go options offered by our many Downtown Chandler businesses.
Pack a blanket or lawn chairs and games for the kids like kites, bubbles and frisbee. This is a great way to let the kids run around and burn off energy.
Take in the Art
Thanks to the Vision Gallery, Downtown Chandler has a robust public art scene. You can view the complete roundup here, but below are a few of our favorites:
Dr. A.J. Chandler Park and Frank Lloyd Wright
Located just south of Chandler Blvd and Arizona Ave, this piece celebrates Chandler founder, Dr. A.J. Chandler, and longtime friend Frank Lloyd Wright, who helped influence the original civic planning that shaped Chandler.
5 C’s
This piece is located outside of Cheba Hut on Arizona Ave and Boston St and represents the five “C’s” of Arizona’s history: copper, cotton, cattle, citrus and climate.
Rosales Family Fountain
This bronze sculpture commemorates one of the pioneering families who settled in Chandler before 1910. It is located in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West across from Crust Simply Italian and the Crown Plaza San Marcos Resort.
Monuments to Us
This is the latest mural to come the Downtown and is located in the breezeway next to Chop Shop Chandler. This colorful piece celebrates Chandler’s roots with a variety of colors and images that make for an excellent selfie background.
