Downtown Chandler Third Thursday Market Returns with Local Artist Emphasis
‘Labor of Love’ Monthly Market will Feature 50+ Vendors, DJ, Interactive Art Installation
CHANDLER, Ariz.– On Thursday, Feb. 19 from 6-9 p.m., Downtown Chandler’s Third Thursday monthly market will return with an emphasis on appreciating Valley artists who pour passion into each piece they create. Themed ‘Labor of Love’, the vibrant, walkable market will see over 50 local vendors and artists gather to showcase and sell their work, with an opportunity for attendees to leave their own artistic mark through participating in a community art installation. To reflect the diversity of art beyond physical handmade pieces, Jules Quimby Vinyl DJ will set the vibe with eclectic live music mixing, and Sabrina Forbes will captivate crowds with a lollipop aerial performance to represent the beauty of movement itself. In addition to the market, event organizers Downtown Chandler Community Partnership will offer activities such as a Blind Date with a Record swap, in which vinyl records will be wrapped in plain paper to obscure the album’s cover art, artist name and title. Guests will be encouraged to choose a record based on curated vibes to discover new music. To further encourage creativity and self-expression, Enchanted Dragon Design will host a painting class for guests ($30per person) at 6 p.m., Crochet by JessicaRose will offer a crochet workshop at her vendor booth during the market, and guests will be able to contribute to an interactive art installation–a ‘What’s Your Labor of Love?’ wall, in which guests can write and display a heart-shaped sticky note about something they are passionate about. “While Third Thursday has always been about uplifting and providing a platform for Valley creatives, our team wanted to take our appreciation a step further, especially when considering the market’s proximity to Valentine’s Day,” said Maddi Miloscia, events manager at Downtown Chandler Community Partnership. “It’s inspiring to see the love these artists have for their craft, and this month’s theme gives us an even deeper opportunity to spotlight the passion, dedication and heart that go into every piece they share with the community.” Sponsors for the February Labor of Love Third Thursday market will include Lifetime Home Remodeling, Semper Fi Heating & Cooling, Shelf Genie, Travel & Leisure, and the City of Chandler. Third Thursday is a monthly celebration of creativity, culture and community in the heart of Downtown Chandler held from October through May. The evening event regularly features shopping opportunities from local artists, handmade crafts for guests of all ages, live musical performances, interactive exhibits, and pop-up experiences that transforms the area into a vibrant, walkable, accessible community art gallery of various mediums. The event gives a platform to established artists, as well as up-and-coming students to present their work and reach new audiences.
